Work get's cannibalized sometimes. From a page banner for the Artic Vault project, to a splash image to replace the old 404 page, this particular image has been around.
This year, GitHub needed some "stock" illustration imagery that could be leveraged for internal reports. Unfortunately some projects fall through the cracks. This was never used or released... again.
